RAW: A RueLaLa Purchase
A few months back there was a RueLaLa Philly special for $60 for $120 at RAW. It included a 5 course meal and a flight of sake. I had a $30 credit, so I thought why not? I have been meaning to try the restaurant for a while (must return in the summer for their outdoor patio).
I had some free time this week so I figured I should use it up sooner rather than later.

The restaurant is not very well lit, so bare with me.

Our flight of sake (ozeki dry, ohkagura & hakushika chokara)… honestly, not a fan.
First up was Salmon Tataki (seared salmon with citrus micro greens).

Portions were small, but I really enjoyed this dish. The sauce was amazing and it took a lot to not just lick the plate.
2nd course was a Walu Wrap w/ Roasted Garlic (white fish with king crab, creamy roasted garlic sauce and o-oba).

My dish was extremely garlic-y while my friends barely had a hint of garlic. I’m not sure why that was, but it definitely could have gone with less.
3rd course was Suzuki Carpaccio (thinly sliced striped bass flash seared with hot sesame oil and olive oil, garnashed with tobiko & scallions).

Again, really really good, but just not nearly as filling as how much calories were probably in that sauce!
4th course was on the larger side and was a Surf ‘n’ Turf with Miso Risotto (steak, a shrimp and scallop (2 baby ones!) served with peach balsamic vinaigrette.

I’m assuming this was our “meal,” but have you seen how I eat? We couldn’t shovel the risotto into our mouths fast enough (we were using chop sticks, it was hard!). The dish was very good. Only complaint? 1 shrimp? 2 scallops? This is a sushi restaurant, could you have spared a few more seafood items?
& lastly, for dessert, a Green Tea Ice Cream.

Tiny! Our spoon could fit the entire scoop. However, it was very good. I love green tea ice cream and this did not disappoint.
Don’t get me wrong, everything was ate was superb! I just wish it was of a larger quantity. It didn’t leave me full by any means and while I know it all looks pretty and took a while to prepare (you have to call 24 hours in advance for this) I didn’t really find it worth the $120 price tag (thank god I only paid $30). This is also not going to stop me from coming back and trying their sushi or some of their larger dishes. I will return!
