tomorrow i leave for las vegas!
we have a 7am flight (woof) but we get in around 930AM, which is actually really nice. the rest of our friends don’t fly in until friday night around 11PM (talk about rallying).
our goals? immediate taxi ride to the hotel, check bags, POOL, & DRINKS. it’s going to be 81 (actually same weather as back here in philly), but it’s perfect pool weather. i’m in desperate need of sun so I plan on staying there all day. oh, did i mention our pool also so happens to be tao beach?
other things i’m looking forward to:
palms’ ghost bar day bar on saturday (confetti every 5 minutes. i repeat confetti).
possibly maybe definitely going to a kardashian khaos in the mirage.
celebrating my friends’ 30th birthday!
$20 two hour open bar deal at tao (um, what?) on saturday night.
marquee on monday night…which also so happens to be party rock mondays.
the huge suite i get to share with only one other person (own bed!).
getting away for 4 nights/5 days in one of my favorite cities!
(oh, and maybe also the fact that 20 of my friends are going as well)
things i’m not looking forward to:
packing.
the rest of this work day.

i just got word that the conference i’m going to in march [vegas!] is having rachel dratch [snl alum] as one of their guest speakers (along with author aj jacobs & olympic gold medalist lenny krayzelburg).
i’m really excited to hear her [& them!] speak. last year they had mayim bialik (& many others) and i thought she was a great speaker.
rachel has even hinted on twitter that she might be doing a book signing [count me in!].

smile friday: the-time-i-celebrated-my-24th-birthday-in-vegas edition
also known as the longest birthday ever. we flew to vegas on my birthday, so that added an extra 3 6 hours. obviously we fought through the exhaustion - double vodka sodas are wonderful - & was out until 6am (9am EST!). that’s over 24 hours of being awake (we all worked that day, too). how we made it 5 days there is still a miracle.
looks like my 2012 trip to vegas will be a the end of march this year - so, must think of alternative 25th birthday plans!

I’m back!

[from Vegas! & now I’m back to work]

Since I can’t share every picture (although I would love to), here’s a quick recap of my trip.

We landed in Las Vegas about an hour after our scheduled time. [thanks to 30 minutes on the runway & a detour over Texas]

We quickly changed, ate & dressed for Marquee at the new Cosmopolitan. [was also spotted by Jen - you should have come over!!]

& the trip [or night 1] would not be complete with a cab drive over to the Vegas sign!

Saturday we spent the day touring & ended it at Surrender at the Wynn.

…where the Celebrity Apprentice was having their premiere party. Lil Jon DJed the rest of night!

The conference I was attending took place Sunday, Monday & Tuesday morning. So we didn’t get out much until Monday where I finally saw…

The Bellagio fountains!

Monday night we made our way up to the top of The Mandalay Bay where we were able to sneak outside [despite warnings] & snap a few photos overlooking the Strip.

Overall, an amazing trip & it was great to get away for a little. Now, back to reality.

[& a crazy time!]
Update to follow when I return…
or, as they say, what happens in vegas stays in vegas.
My friends have banned me from tumblring while away - but feel free to follow my tweets @abbykar.
[also you guys are awesome! thank you so much for all the wonderful tweets, messages & replies. i think austin wins with the most birthday wishes via social media outlets. (thanks, girl!)

Ever hear of The Social Network & 21?
Of course you have!
Ben Mezrich, who is the author of The Accidental Billionaries & Bringing Down The House: The Inside Story of Six M.I.T. Students who Took Vegas for Millions, and on which the above movies are based, is speaking at the convention I’m going to in March!
Two of his other bestsellers, Rigged & Ugly Americans have also been optioned for the big screen.
They have only released a few speakers so far, but I’m waiting to hear what big celebrities they have in store! so excited!
