Post Grad Slump

The random findings & babblings of a twenty-something living in Philadelphia. I graduated college in 2009 and I'm still getting used to this thing we call the "real world."

My favorite things include Philadelphia (the city, the sports, the food), traveling, ice cream, giraffes, taking pictures & finding recipes online that I'll probably never actually get around to making. It's an interesting mix, but so am I.

hey philly!

amazon has a great deal for north bowl today.

half off for 2, 4, or 6 people. you get 2 games, shoe rental, & more importantly tater tots(!).

i’ve already snagged mine!

[$19 for 2, $38 for 4, & $55 for 6]

today’s lunch was for mac & cheese, sunshine, & catching up with an old coworker.

we’re both huge foodies and when i heard macmart was making a special appearance in LOVE park today i knew i could not miss this opportunity.

little italy (italian mac mixed with homemade italian garlic croutons, crispy parmesan chicken bites, topped with fresh mozzarella & dressed in a drizzle of tangy marina sauce) for me, & a create your own (jalapenos, carmelized onions, & corn bread crumble) for my friend.

amazing would be an understatement. highly recommended if you come across this truck!

hey philly…

night market is back!

first up: fairmount ave.

sadly i don’t think i’ll be able to go to the first two, but i’m incredibly jealous that the tot cart will be in attendance. i mean, it’s TOTS. must find that truck before august 15th.

if you go, eat up & save a few tots for me!

kelly reblogged a bunch of different city/food prints the other day but obviously i would need this one.

YES, YES, YES to all (except maybe minus the scrapple)

also! available on society6 on canvas, stationery, iphone cases, pillows, tote bags…you get the idea.

[via / $26-36]

philly, have you seen this?

rent the runway is having a pop up showroom march 22-24th at arts ballroom!

the deal is through living social and all you have to do is choose your time. i just bought my deal for sunday (let me know if you go!).

nothing in it for me, just sharing some awesome information.

important.

as always, i have plans (i really need to coordinate around food specials more), but please enjoy an extra margarita & side of guacamole for me!

[university city / @ distrito]

psa for all of my fellow philadelphians.

this sunday opa is offering a special $2 menu in honor of their 2nd anniversary.

they are offering it all day, too.

really sad i won’t be able to go, but you should. & enjoy an extra $2 beverage for me.

yesterday was for getting up early and helping the elderly in philadelphia.

we teamed up with rebuilding together and helped fix up multiple houses owned by elderly residents. we painted, weeded, caulked, mowed the lawn & fixed loose railings. we even made the evening news!

i must say, we couldn’t have asked for a better day (good deeds & weather!).

(i guess we could have asked for an eagles win, but you can’t have everything)

saw an early screening of this last night.

all i can say is, nailed it.

i don’t say this often, but this was a great movie. plus, the eye candy…hello bradley cooper!

the movie was filmed in philly & the burbs so it was great to see some landmarks. the screening was actually in the same town it was filmed in, and it was so much fun to be cheering & laughing with the audience.

bradley cooper & jennifer lawrence’s characters had great chemistry. plus, robert deniro & bradley’s relationship is just so, so perfect. if you’re from philly (or just love football) you will adore deniro’s obsession with the eagles and all things that come with sunday football.

2 weeks, kids. do it!

last night after work my mom and i headed over to the franklin institute to catch the dead sea scrolls before they left. the exhibit ran from may 12th through oct 14th (only took us 5 months to get there…). anyway, it was awesome to see the scrolls & pottery/artifacts they found. most of the pottery was pieced back together, too. i can’t image how long that took. definitely a worthwhile exhibit to catch in the next week it’s here, or to visit if it comes to your city!

afterwards, we met up with my sister and grabbed dinner at distrito. this restaurant has been on my to-try list for some time now, so i’m glad i was able to finally go. the food was delicious. even my mom & sister enjoyed it! (they’re some of the pickiest eaters i’ve ever met. not sure we’re related) i’m usually not a fan of jose garces’ restaurants because he uses a lot of pork, but i was able to find something i enjoyed without any problems at all.

overall, a productive little thursday evening.
