ft. worth.
we woke up [ok, literally rolled out of bed] & hit the road for our 3 hour drive to ft. worth.
we arrived at my friend’s apartment and went out for italian food at taverna.
& since i’m pretty sure we have rocks in our head, my friend hosted a pregame at his apartment.
while we didn’t last very long at the actual bar (exhaustion plus dreading the 630am wake up*), we still managed to pull off another night out.
*630am because 3 out of the 5 of us were going to cotton bowl to watch the psu v. houston game at the ticketcity bowl. we were tagging along to tailgate.

austin: nye/night 2.
in addition to the 5 of us that arrived the night before, my friend (who lives in ft. worth) had about 10 of his friends driving over to celebrate nye in austin with us.
& celebrate we did.
bar of choice: maggie mae’s. it’s rooftoop, with a view of the fireworks, & we were totally taking advantage of the usually warm december night.

austin: day 2.
so, apparently in austin they don’t do brunch and no one is awake before 1pm. or, at least that’s what i observed.
we woke up and started strolling the streets for somewhere to eat. nothing. we found a starbucks (it was glorious) and ended up finding a place called taco shack that luckily was serving breakfast burritos.
after napping (since nothing else was going on), we walked down to iron works bbq for lunch. it was amazing. [see platter here]
the rest of new years eve day called for more naps, caffeine, & enjoying the 80(!) degree sunny day.
then… it was time to get ready for nye!

austin: night 1.
we got into houston and immediately jumped in the car and started our venture to austin.
[okay, we stopped at the outlets first]
we grabbed dinner, set up decorations & alcohol, washed up, & pregamed with gold solo cups.
next up was 6th street, where we proceeded to bar hop from library, to maggie mae’s, to dizzy rooster, and ending at treasure island.
the best part? we didn’t even need a jacket!

…yeah right!
We hit up Curra’s in Austin for our morning after breakfast. It did not dissapoint.

Leftovers were wrapped up [& eaten about halfway through the 3 hours back to Ft. Worth].
On the way to Austin we passed sign after sign for the Inner Space Cavern & decided that we had to do that on our back.
So, we did.

The cave was HUGE. It took us over an hour to cover the whole thing. But it was actually really neat and I’m really glad we stopped to take the tour.

But then we really did rest. We went out for a nice dinner Sunday night & went to bed super early.
Overall, I had an awesome time in Texas & I’m currently in the process of finding time to make it back!
Notes &
Austin has been one of the cities I’ve been dying to visit for a while now. So, when in Texas…
We hopped in the car [or rather 3 cars] & made our 3 hour trek to Austin! But first, we stopped by Hamilton Pool.

I couldn’t make up this place if I tried. Only downside was that there was barely a waterfall because of the drought.

We had to wait an hour to get in (yeah…), but it was totally worth it. We blew up our rafts on the wait to get in, so all we had to do was hop right in and soak up the sun! It’s only about 20 or so minutes outside of Austin & I totally recommend this if you’re nearby!
Next, we headed to the Omni, our hotel for the night, only to find that our room was not ready. So, instead, they decided to upgrade us to a 2 bedroom suite (what?!), and a round of drinks & appetizers at the bar.

The view was amazing & our suite was HUGE. I’m talking full kitchen, 3 balconies, 2 full bathrooms, walk in closets & a washer/dryer. Too bad we were only there for a night!

In front of the hotel ready to hit 6th street!

6th street was awesome! The entire street is just a line of bars & they shut it down so you can walk down it. Every time we got bored of a bar, we just rounded up the crew and headed to the next one. I definitely need an excuse to head back to Austin!
